LISA GOLDMAN – WRITER/DIRECTOR

Lisa Goldman was the founding Artistic Director of the Red Room – an ACE funded new writing theatre company. Recent work includes BITES (The Bush); ANIMAL (Soho theatre and national tour) and THE BOGUS WOMAN (Bush, Traverse, national and international tour, Radio 3 Sunday play – Scotsman Fringe First Award, Manchester Evening News Best Actress); HANGING (Radio 4 Friday play) all by Kay Adshead; PLAYING FIELDS by Neela Dolezalova (Soho Theatre). She has directed two short films MY SKY IS BIG (NFT1) and SNAKEPARK (First Light). Lisa was appointed Artistic Director of Soho Theatre in 2006. The first production she directed there was LEAVES OF GLASS by Philip Ridley, starring Ben Whishaw and Maxine Peake and the second was universally acclaimed new play BAGHDAD WEDDING by Hassan Abdulrazzak, which Lisa subsequently directed as a radio play. In March 2008 she directed A COUPLE OF POOR POLISH-SPEAKING ROMANIANS by award-winning Polish enfant terrible Dorota Maslowska followed by another Philip Ridley play PIRANHA HEIGHTS .
