Nick Leather’s new play BILLY WONDERFUL is set to tour before a four week run at the Liverpool Everyman in 2009.
His debut play ALL THE ORDINARY ANGELS won the Pearson Award for Best New Play 2005 and was produced on the main stage of Manchester’s Royal Exchange Theatre in October and November of that year. Since then his work has included a screen adaptation of Bernard Hares memoir URBAN GRIMSHAW & THE SHED CREW for Passion Pictures, THE DOMINO MAN OF LANCASHIRE for BBC Radio 4, A NORTHERN ELEGY for BBC Radio 3, SCHOOL RULES for Channel 4, and an attachment at the Royal National Theatre. Previously, he was Playwright-in-Residence at the Royal Exchange and is an Associate Writer of the Liverpool Everyman.
In 2009 BILLY WONDERFUL was produced at the Liverpool Everyman, his Afternoon Play WEDNESDAYS WITH STRANGERS was broadcast on Radio 4, and he developed both a screen adaptation of Danny Rhodes novel ASBOVILLE for BBC Television, and COTTONOPOLIS, a radio drama series for Red Productions / BBC Radio Drama. Nick also wrote one episode in series 2 of MOVING ON for LA Prods/BBC.
