British Columbia-based playwright/actor/director, he is an Associate Director at Canada Stage. His plays have been widely produced in Canada and productions are increasing in the UK, Europe and the US. His play “7 STORIES” won four Dora Mavor Moore Awards and was a finalist for the Governor General’s Award which he won in 1994 for “THE ENDS OF THE EARTH”. Subsequent plays include “LAWRENCE AND HOLLOMAN” and the highly acclaimed and popular “VIGIL”. Under a new title “AUNTIE AND ME”, ‘Vigil’ sold out at The Assembly Rooms at Edinburgh starring Alan Davies, prod. David Johnson and transferred to the Wyndhams Theatre in the West End in January 03. “GIRL IN A GOLDFISH BOWL” opened to rave reviews at Canada Stage in Vancouver in Sept 02; it transferred to the Tarragon Theatre, Toronto and won 5 Doras. The Canada Stage production of his physical theatre piece based on Gogol’s “THE OVERCOAT” transferred to the Barbican as part of their ‘Bite’ season in January 2004. “GIRL IN A GOLDFISH BOWL” opened at the Sheffield Studio in March 2005. DISHWASHERS was produced at Tarragon Theatre Nov/Dec 05, BENEVOLENCE at Tarragon in Oct 2007. New play THE TRESPASSERS will be produced at Stratford, Ontario in July 2009.
