Philip has worked as an actor and writer since graduating from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in 1992. He was a writer on attachment at Soho Theatre in 2002 and his first play “MR NOBODY” premiered there in June 2003. In 2005 he starred in a one-man show HITTING FUNNY, which he also wrote, on tour and for 3 weeks at the Assembly Rooms at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival (Volcano Theatre). HITTING FUNNY goes on a second national tour from Jan 06. Philip writes regularly for DOCTORS and has been signed for a bulk deal in 2006/07. DEEP CUT, the play Philip wrote about events that took place at Deep Cut army base, commissioned by the Sherman Theatre in Wales,was the surprise hit at Edinburgh this year. The production received four star reviews across the board and won a Fringe First and a Herald Angel. Mark Lawson said "Never before have I been so moved, or enraged, by a play..." It is now under option to Revolution Films. Philip has been recommissioned by the Sherman Theatre for 2009.
