Lisa Goldman



Lisa Goldman has been Artistic Director and Joint Chief Executive of two new writing companies, the Red Room (1995-2006) and Soho Theatre (2006-2010) for whom she developed, directed and produced a substantial body of influential new writing. Directing includes THE BOGUS WOMAN by Kay Adshead (Bush, Traverse, national and international tour, Radio 3 Sunday Play (Scotsman Fringe First Award, MEN Best Actress); HOXTON STORY which she also wrote; 35mm short film MY SKY IS BIG (NFT1 and festivals). For Soho Theatre she directed LEAVES OF GLASS by Philip Ridley starring Ben Whishaw and Maxine Peake; PIRANHA HEIGHTS also by Philip Ridley with Luke Treadaway; BAGHDAD WEDDING by Hassan Abdulrazzak (George Devine and Meyer Whitworth Awards), also for Radio 3; A COUPLE OF POOR POLISH-SPEAKING ROMANIANS by Dorota Maslowska which she co-translated with Paul Sirett, starring Andrea Riseborough; THIS ISN’T ROMANCE by In-Sook Chappell (Verity Bargate Award) and Radio 3 The Wire ; EVERYTHING MUST GO (various writers – first UK plays about the economic crisis); SHRADDHA by Natasha Langridge (Meyer Whitworth Award) and BEHUD by Gurpreet Kaur Bhatti (co-pro with Coventry Belgrade); Recent freelance shows include INHERITANCE by Mike Packer (Live Theatre) and an adaptation of Martina Cole’s DANGEROUS LADY (Theatre Royal Stratford East). In 2012, Lisa’s THE NO RULES HANDBOOK FOR WRITERS was published by Oberon Books and was No 1 Amazon Bestseller (non-fiction).
